Faithful Korean Baptist 교회의 비전

Faithful Korean Baptist Church (충성한인침례교회)는 미 남침례교단에 속해 있는 교회로 모교인 Compass Fellowship Church의 기도와 사랑으로 2013년 1월 13일에 창립을 했습니다. 교회의 창립을 준비하면서 두가지의 말씀을 묵상하게 하셨는데 첫번째는 이사야 말씀 6장 13절의 말씀처럼 이세상에서 하나님의 말씀과 언약이 회복되기를 바라며 살아가는 하나님의 사람들을 "거룩한 씨앗"으로 남기신 것처럼 이곳 뉴욕에 거룩한 씨앗이 되어 다시 한번 이곳 거칠은 뉴욕땅에 하나님의 말씀이 되살아나고 싹을 틔우는 영적인 회복에 쓰임받게 되기를 바라는 소망을 주셨습니다.

또 하나의 말씀은 마태복음 25장의 달란트 비유의 말씀입니다. 저희 교회는 얼마만큼의 또는 어떤 종류의 달란트를 주셨는가에 연연해하기보다는 교회의 주인되신 하나님과 그 아들 예수 그리스도를 주인으로 모시고 지극히 작은 것에도 충성하는 모습으로 서게 되기를 소망하고 있습니다. 그 중에 가장 귀한 것, 잃어버린 영혼에 대한 사명에 충성하고자 합니다. 우리 아버지되신 하나님이 가장 사모하고 계시는 '잃어버린 영혼에 대한 사랑과 부담'을 저희 또한 느끼며 전하고자 합니다. 작게는 저희가 속한 곳에서부터, 이곳 뉴욕 땅에, 그리고 세계 땅끝을 향해 달려가고자 합니다. 

 이 두가지의 말씀에 기인해서 저희 충성한인침례교회는 "나는 누구인가?", "나는 무엇을 향해 가고 있는가?"라는 질문을 계속해서 묻는 교회가 될 것입니다. 이 세상에 살고 있지만 썩어질 것을 바라며 사는 존재가 아니라 하나님의 백성으로 하나님의 명예를 짊어지고 살아가야 하는 "거룩한 씨앗"으로서 개개인들이 설 수 있도록 돕는 교회가 되고자 합니다. 충성한인침례교회는 또한 "하나님은 누구인가?"를 묻는 교회가 되고자 합니다. 우리에게 허락하신 교회, 나의 소유, 나의 인생 전체가 하나님께로부터 왔음을 기억하며 하나님의 하나님되심을 모든 작은 일에도 인정하는, 그래서 주인의 기쁨이 되며, 주인의 기쁨의 잔치에 참예하는 교회로 성장해 가게되는 것이 저희 교회의 비전입니다.

Faithful Korean Baptist Church (Faithful KBC) was established on January 13, 2013, by the prayers and love of its mother church, Compass Fellowship. As Faithful KBC prepared for its planting, the church meditated on two particular passages: Isaiah 6:13 and Matthew 25: 14-30.  Through these passages, we felt challenged by the remnant that was like a “holy seed” in the land, never giving up on God’s words and His covenant. We, too, developed the hope to be one of the many seeds in New York that can bear spiritual fruit and restoration back to God. We trusted that no matter how small our talents, God would use it and simply required us to be “good and faithful servants.”

One of the ways in which we desire to stand faithfully is God’s commandment to care for and love His people. Starting from this city of New York and to the ends of the earth, we strive to share and live out the gospel in our lives.  Constantly examining the questions “who am I” and “what am I running towards,” Faithful KBC prays to be a body of Christ that has the right identity and purpose before God as His people.  More importantly, as we continually remind ourselves of “who is God,” Faithful KBC prays to be a church that acknowledges God as the owner of our church, our possessions, and our lives. In accordance with our name, we pray to be a church that pleases God and hears the words, “good and faithful servant.”
